Qatar Airways started flights on Boeing 737 MAX 8

Qatar Airways started flights on Boeing 737 MAX 8 on May 9 for the first time. This is the new type of middle-range aircraft in the Qatar Airways fleet. The plane commenced the first flight from Doha to Kuwait.

The delivery of this plane became possible due to Western sanctions against Russian aviation. The United States banned the delivery of new American planes to Russian airlines in 2022.

Boeing produced some Boeing 737 MAX 8 for Russian S7 Airlines but was not able to deliver the planes. As the aircrafts were in storage, Qatar Airways ordered them for its own fleet.

Boeing 737 MAX 8 helps the airline to develop its fleet and to replace the old middle-range aircrafts Airbus A320 in the following years.

Qatar Airways also has ordered 25 brand new Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircrafts. Boeing plan to deliver them in the next years. Boeing 737 MAX 10 is under the certification process.
